What's a mom of a teenage asperger kid to do

This is a blog I decided to start to help moms, dads, and kids to talk more about having Asperger Syndrome, Tourette's syndrome, and social difficulties due to these syndromes. I have a son who is now a 7th grader and has been diagnosed with having these syndromes. It has been a long an arduous road. His first diagnosis was of ADHD at the age of 6. He went through several medications before being finalized on abilify. He was prescribed Ritalin, Adderal, Strattera, Tenex, and Abilify. With the Ritalin, he had a significant weight drop. Switching to Adderal he had a significant weight increase (24 lbs in one year). Next was Strattera combined with Abilify and Tenex. In 2007, our psychologist and psychiatrist in North Carolina indicated that when Strattera is given to kids with Aspergers, it can cause frequent spikes of anger and melt-downs. These occurences were both terrible for my son. We eliminated Strattera as well as Tenex back in November 2007 and he is solely on Abilify. We noticed significant improvement in his demeanor as well as the significant decrease in frequency of his anger and melt-downs.
